South Korea moves to expand mandatory cybersecurity disclosures to all listed companies

( January 9, 2026, 05:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s science ministry said it will revise an enforcement decree under the Act on the Promotion of the Information Security Industry to broaden mandatory public disclosures on corporate information security, as part of a wider government push after recent hacking incidents. According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, the proposal would expand coverage to all KOSPI- and KOSDAQ-listed companies by deleting the current 300 billion won ($206 million) revenue threshold, and would also add companies required to obtain ISMS certification, while scrapping exemptions that had excluded public institutions, financial firms, small businesses and electronic-financial business operators. The ministry opened public consultation through Feb. 19 and said it aims to finalize the decree after hearings and reviews, so that the expanded disclosure regime can be applied from 2027.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
