China, EU form working group to boost cross-border automotive data flows

( July 18, 2025, 09:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China and the EU have agreed to set up a working group to collaborate on cross-border data flows in the automotive sector, China's Cyberspace Administration announced today. The initiative was announced during the second meeting in Brussels of the China-Europe Data Cross-Border Flow Communication Mechanism, co-hosted by Wang Jingtao, deputy director of China’s Cyberspace Administration, and Sabine Weyand, director-general of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade. In line with industry demands, both sides agreed to further leverage the mechanism to enhance regulatory connectivity, with an emphasis on mutual reciprocity. Officials from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Ministry of Commerce attended, as well as representatives from the European Commission’s directorates for Justice and Consumers, and Communications Networks, Content and Technology.
