Data breaches notified in 2024 up 25 percent, Australian privacy regulator says

( May 13, 2025, 00:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: There was a 25 percent increase in data-breach notifications in 2024 compared to 2023, Australia’s privacy regulator said. In a statement today, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner said 595 data breaches were reported between July and December 2024, bringing the year’s total to 1,113, a 25 percent increase from 893 in 2023.
