FC København can use facial recognition use at matches, Danish data watchdog says

( January 16, 2025, 11:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Football club FC København has received approval from Denmark’s Data Protection Agency to use automatic facial-recognition technology at its matches. The club’s April 2024 request included processing biometric data for identifying individuals to aid with the enforcement of bans. The technology will be used at its home stadium, at other grounds and at mobile setups. However, the approval requires a prior data protection impact assessment. Use of facial-recognition tools for international football matches remains under review, and its use for non-football events is deemed unnecessary for significant public interests, the regulator said.Statement follows in Danish....
