AI Act's guidelines on prohibitions published by EU Commission

( February 4, 2025, 15:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The AI Act's guidelines on prohibited practices were published by the European Commission today. The guidelines are non-binding but "aim to increase legal clarity" for providers and deployers of AI systems and set out the commission's interpretation of the prohibitions in Article 5 of the law. This prohibits certain AI systems, such as manipulative, exploitative, social control or surveillance practices, as they violate fundamental rights. The bans have been applicable since Feb. 2, six months after the AI Act entered into force.The guidelines are attached, the statement follows....
