Hong Kong privacy regulator reports increase in data breaches for 2024

The office conducted 400 compliance checks; handled 442 doxxing cases; issued 194 cessation notices to remove 5,302 messages across 20 platforms; and launched 118 criminal investigations. It also published findings on a "DarkHack" ransomware attack on humanitarian organization Oxfam in July 2024, which potentially exposed the data of 550,000 data subjects.The statement follows:...
