California, X say they have settlement on content-moderation transparency law

( January 14, 2025, 01:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  Lawyers for California Attorney General Rob Bonta and X told a federal judge they've agreed to settlement terms to end litigation by the social media company that challenges the constitutionality of a new California law that requires social media platforms to disclose how they define certain types of content, such as "hate speech" and "extremism." "The Parties are currently finalizing a stipulation and proposed judgment that will, if adopted by the Court, fully resolve this action," X and California told US District Judge William B. Shubb.
