Google accused of exploiting 'amicus machine' in US app store suit

( January 7, 2025, 17:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google's coordination of amicus brief filings to influence case outcomes, law and public policy is on display in an appeal over remedies ordered by a US judge as part of litigation brought by Epic Games over app store competition, law professor Paul Collins said, and briefs submitted by Google-funded amici should be "taken with a heavy grain of salt" by appeals court judges. "Like other powerful parties, Google has deployed the 'amicus machine' in numerous high-profile cases, using amici with financial ties to Google to amplify its arguments without disclosing those relationships," Collins said in a brief filed to the US Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit.See attached document....
