Banco Pichincha España receives GDPR fine

( January 8, 2025, 12:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Banco Pichincha España has been fined 50,000 euros by the Spanish Data Protection Authority, for violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. The claimant, a customer of Pichincha, reported that their phone number had been cloned by a third party using the services of Digi Spain Telecom, who impersonated the claimant to request a phone cloning. This allowed the unauthorized person to access the claimant's bank account, the watchdog said. The regulator said that the bank failed to take adequate measures to protect the claimant's personal data from fraud and unauthorized access.The decision is attached in Spanish. ...
