Tesla overcomes trademark block, EUIPO revokes 'TESLA' from Bulgarian company

( December 20, 2024, 16:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Tesla has won a protracted battle with the registrant of the “Tesla” trademark in the EU. The European Union Intellectual Property Office revoked the registration in its entirety due to bad faith and non-use by Bulgarian company Capella Eood. According to the office, Capella is associated with a network of entities controlled by Erich Auer, who filed the contested trademark as part of a “trademark trolling” strategy, according to the carmaker. This prevented Tesla from securing a full EU-wide trademark, forcing the company to rely on alternative, limited national registrations.See EUIPO document attached....
