US Chamber says Google injunction could cause 'negative effects'

( December 5, 2024, 00:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Chamber of Commerce has asked to submit an amicus brief backing Google in the company's bid to stop a district court's injunction from going into effect. In its amicus brief, the chamber told the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that the injunction — which would require Google to open up its Play Store to competition — "threatens to create unacknowledged negative downstream effects." Noting that it represents approximately 300,000 direct members and indirectly represents the interests of more than three million companies and professional organizations of every size, the Chamber said its members "rely on carefully crafted injunctions that do no more than necessary to remedy an actually proven antitrust harm." See court document. ...
