Vietnam's National Assembly passes Data Law

The law, which was published for consultation in July, establishes rules for cross-border data transfers and introduces stringent measures to protect critical or “core” data related to national security and public interests. It also strengthens the regulatory framework for the National Data Center, which is already being established under a government decree. In response to feedback, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly adjusted articles to enhance clarity and practicality, including outlining principles for publicizing data and streamlining the regulations on data platforms to lay the groundwork for a data-exchange market.
