Japan's Itoki warned by antitrust agency not to exploit transport companies

( November 28, 2024, 07:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japanese office-furniture supplier Itoki received a warning today from the antitrust agency for potentially exploiting transport companies in violation of the Antimonopoly Act. The Japan Fair Trade Commission said that Itoki may have demanded unfair economic benefits by requiring truck drivers to perform unpaid work. The conduct could constitute a violation of the special rules aimed at preventing cargo owners from abusing their superior bargaining position against logistics companies, according to the JFTC.
