Boeing's satellite transponder patent revoked by European Patent Office

( November 21, 2024, 10:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Patent Office's Board of Appeal revoked Boeing’s patent, due to non-compliance with Article 76(1) of the European Patent Convention. The patent, related to a satellite transponder with a three-stage Clos switch network, was challenged by Airbus Defence and Space. The company contested Boeing's patent’s validity by arguing that amendments introduced by Boeing during opposition proceedings added subject-matter which wasn't explicitly disclosed in the initial application, which is a violation of  Article 76(1) EPC. The Board agreed and concluded that the original application lacked sufficient details for the amended claims, which led to the patent's revocation.  The document is attached....
