Merger remedies approach to be reviewed by UK competition regulator

( November 21, 2024, 08:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Remedies to alleviate competition concerns arising out of merger deals are to be reviewed by the UK competition regulator, the watchdog's chief executive will say today in a speech. Sarah Cardell will reinforce the "importance of pace and proportionality" in merger reviews, the Competition and Markets Authority has said. "The goal for merger control is simple —  and this has always been the case: every deal that is capable of being cleared either unconditionally or with effective remedies should be." Cardell will also say that competition is central to the UK's economic growth prospects.Statement follows....
