Greening EU container glass makers’ operations will cost EUR20 billion by 2050, lobby says

( October 24, 2024, 08:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU makers of glass bottles and packaging will need to invest some 20 billion euros (around $22 billion) in capital expenditure to reach net zero by 2050, the sector lobby FEVE has said, stressing the need to access affordable and low-carbon energy quickly. “The window for action is now” as glass furnaces are replaced every 10 to 15 years, the group said, adding that access to new and existing financial support is essential.
