Gray Television, Quincy Media to divest TV stations to get deal approved by US DOJ

( July 28, 2021, 19:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Gray Television and Quincy Media have agreed to divest ten television stations in seven markets to resolve the US Department of Justice’s competition concerns over Gray’s acquisition of Quincy. The DOJ claimed that the proposed agreement would likely give Gray the power to charge multichannel video programming distributors higher fees for its programming — fees that those companies would likely pass on, in large measure, to their subscribers. Additionally, the DOJ alleged the acquisition would likely allow Gray to charge local businesses and other advertisers higher prices to reach audiences in seven designated market areas.Statement follows in full.
