Facebook gets summary judgment in DC litigation over Cambridge Analytica response

( June 1, 2023, 16:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Facebook clearly disclosed data uses in its privacy policies and “did not have a duty under [the District of Columbia Consumer Protection Procedures Act] to disclose alleged data misuse, such as in the Cambridge Analytica incident,” Associate Judge Maurice Ross of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia found, granting the company summary judgment against DC Attorney General Karl Racine. Ross dismissed the DC complaint, writing that there is “no legal basis” showing Facebook should have responded to Cambridge Analytica differently, and the company “did not materially mislead consumers as to their response.” See attached document....
