Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, other Internet companies sign antitrust self-discipline convention

( July 15, 2021, 05:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A total of 33 online business operators including tech giants Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu and Xiaomi signed an antitrust self-discipline convention during the 2021 China Internet Conference held in Beijing between July 13 and 15, according to a statement published today on the website of the Internet Society of China. The convention prohibits online platform operators from using technical means and platform rules to fix prices, divide sales territories or engage in group boycotts. The convention also warned platform operators against violations such as abusing their market dominance by imposing exclusivity requirements, or failing to notify mergers and acquisitions that have met notification thresholds.The statement follows:...
