Second consumer-privacy bill introduced in Washington state legislature

( February 1, 2021, 19:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  Washington state Representative Shelley Kloba has introduced the Washington People’s Privacy Act (WPPA), the second consumer-privacy bill proposed in the state legislature this session. Kloba's consumer privacy bill would give residents more control over the collection of personal information, including the right to access information collected about them and to correct inaccurate information. The bill would also require that companies obtain opt-in consent before using or disclosing personal information, and would let residents sue for up to $10,000 per violation or actual damages. The WPPA also would give the state attorney general and city attorneys enforcement authority.See proposed legislation attached....
