Japanese IP guidelines to get clause on IP liability disputes to protect small businesses

( August 1, 2024, 03:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said it is revising its IP guidelines to reflect findings by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency that some companies had contractually held their subcontractors or suppliers liable for IP disputes arising from goods or services provided. The ministry is revising its boilerplate contracts provided in the guidelines to include an IP dispute clause for fair accountability to prevent large businesses from abusing their smaller suppliers.
