EU gas and electricity markets more ‘stable and predictable’ in first quarter of 2024

( July 31, 2024, 13:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Gas and electricity markets in the EU have regained stability and predictability in the first quarter of 2024, as opposed to the same period in 2023, the European Commission has said in two quarterly reports. The EU gas market remained stable and strong, thanks to high gas storage levels, stable pipeline gas and LNG supplies, alongside a fall in wholesale and retail gas prices. Gas consumption also stabilized at low levels. EU electricity markets continued to note a decrease in energy prices and an increased share of renewables supported by the growth of solar, wind power and hydropower generation.
