Speech - Verena Ross - Credit Rating Agencies: What are the next steps?

( January 25, 2012, 16:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Securities and Markets Authority has called for at least one year to to finalise the technical standards for forthcoming regulation of credit rating agencies. Verena Ross said the deadline of 1 January 2013 was very close to the probable final adoption date of the regulation. Esma will finalise reporting data tools for the CEREP central database and arrange third country co-operation agreements. Ross discussed measures to increase competition among the agencies (here), fight conflicts of interest and introduce civil liability to the sector.Speech is attached at bottom....
