SanDisk backs Impression's petition for certiorari in Lexmark case

( August 21, 2016, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: SanDisk filed a brief with the US Supreme Court calling on it to review a decision by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Impression Products' patent case against Lexmark International. SanDisk argues that the panel's decision against Impression adopts a special patent doctrine that departs from "familiar and general applicable legal principles" and lacks "support in economic logic or legal authority." SanDisk also say that by limiting the geography of the doctrine of patent exhaustion, the decision "unnecessarily increases the administrative burdens on technology companies that create complex products incorporating patented component parts imported from abroad." See document below. ...
