Japan's METI issues business-improvement orders to major gas providers Toho Gas, Chubu Electric Miraiz over bid rigging

( July 26, 2024, 09:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's Ministry for Economy, Trade and Industry announced that the business-improvement orders issued to Toho Gas and Chubu Electric Miraiz on June 27 were an appropriate course of action for violating the Antimonopoly Act. Both companies were given opportunities to justify their illegal bid rigging. However, METI says after hearing the companies justifications and exchanging opinions with the Electricity and Gas Monitoring Committee, it will pursue business-improvement orders.The statement, in Japanese, is attached....
