German steel abrasives damages lawsuit sent back to Düsseldorf court

( October 21, 2022, 16:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A damages suit filed by one of Germany's leading foundries seeking compensation for losses caused by a steel abrasives cartel has been sent back to the higher regional court in Düsseldorf, the Federal Court of Justice said in a ruling made in June, but only published today. It overturned the lower court's ruling, which had rejected the suit on the grounds that it was unfounded, finding that the circumstances raised by the lower judges didn't suffice to exclude that the applicant suffered damages. In 2014, Winoa, Metalltechnik Schmidt and Eisenwerk Würth were fined a total of 30.7 million euros by the European Commission for the conduct.The ruling is attached (in German).
