Eurostar bailout must come with conditions to spur competition, say challengers

( January 25, 2021, 21:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Eurostar's routes should be opened up to competition and the company should be obliged to sell its old trains to would-be challengers, according to the Alliance of Passenger Rail New Entrants. Nick Brooks, the association's secretary general, said Eurostar recently sent trains to the scrap yard: "If governments bail out Eurostar, this must be tied to it making second hand rolling stock available to all privately owned new entrant operators at fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms.”The press release is attached....
