Hesse data watchdog issued 113 fines in 2022; no serious data violations reported

( April 18, 2023, 16:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The data protection authority of the German state of Hesse has published its activity report for 2022, saying that apart from minor breaches of privacy rules, there were no serious violations of data protection. But the number of reported fines rose from 29 in 2021 to 113 in 2022, for a total amount of 44,350 euros. In addition, the watchdog said it saw many online violations relating to profiling with the use of cookies, to online advertising, and to social media companies’ business models.
