Japan's Oji Container, 11 other cardboard-box suppliers lose antitrust appeals at Tokyo High Court

( April 21, 2023, 11:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary:  Japan’s Oji Container and 11 other cardboard box makers on Friday lost their antitrust appeals to annul the hearing decisions made by the Japan Fair Trade Commission at the Tokyo High Court, the JFTC tweeted. The original cartel case dates back to 2014, when the Japanese competition enforcer issued cease-and-desist orders against 61 companies and imposed a total fine of 13.2 billion yen ($98 million today) for price cartels involving cardboard-box sheets and cardboard-box cases. The appellate court in Tokyo rejected the plaintiffs' appeals against the JFTC's in-house hearing decisions, issued in February 2021, the JFTC said in the tweet.
