Sony Music Entertainment's Kobalt deal probe extended by UK's CMA after information request failure

( July 5, 2021, 09:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK probe into Sony Music Entertainment's acquisition of the AWAL and Kobalt Neighbouring Rights business from Kobalt Music Group has been extended by the Competition and Markets Authority for an indefinite period after Sony failed to provide required documents. The CMA had said it would decide by Aug. 26 whether the deal, which is valued at $430 million, will be subject to an in-depth probe, but that timetable is now suspended.
