Uber suit brought by Philadelphia taxi companies dismissed

Sanchez has granted Uber Technologies’ motion to dismiss claims that it attempted to unlawfully monopolize the market for taxicab services in Philadelphia. Sanchez concluded that plaintiffs failed to establish antitrust injury because their complaint does not allege an injury to competition, only injuries they suffered. “Plaintiffs have extensively pleaded detriment to their own welfare, but it has failed to alert this Court of any negative impact Uber’s presence in the marketplace has had on the price, quality, or quantity of taxicab or vehicle-for-hire services—essential indications of antitrust injury,” said Sanchez.
