Irish watchdog seeks input on changes to competition act

( January 20, 2021, 12:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ireland's competition watchdog would have greater powers, under changes to national competition rules. The changes would include the power to carry out video or audio surveillance, and to require the interception and recording of electronic communications when investigating serious, criminal antitrust offenses. Other amendments relate to bid-rigging and gun-jumping, the watchdog said, inviting feedback on the new rules with a deadline of Jan. 29. The 2021 competition bill will also ensure that the EU's ECN+ Directive — which aims to ensure that national competition authorities have the right tools to enforce EU competition provisions in a harmonized manner — are written into domestic provisions.Statement follows. ...
