Printeos can get default interest on envelope antitrust fine, EU court rules

( January 20, 2021, 10:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Spanish envelope maker Printeos can get default interest of more than 180,000 euros on the provisional payment of an EU antitrust fine, the Court of Justice has ruled. In 2014, the European Commission sanctioned a cartel for envelopes, but Printeos' fine was later annulled in court. While the commission invested the money into a fund that generated negative return for the relevant period, Printeos sought the interest on the payment and won backing from the General Court. Now the EU's highest court has dismissed the authority's appeal, rejecting the argument that its failure to pay default interest to Printeos neither constituted a sufficiently serious breach of the EU treaty, nor caused Printeos any harm.See the full text of the judgment attached....
