Apple sued over Telegram hate speech by former US ambassador

( January 17, 2021, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apple has been sued by Marc Ginsberg, a former US ambassador to Morocco, who says the iPhone-maker has failed to police racist and violent content on the Telegram app that can be downloaded through the Apple App Store. "Since its launch in 2013, Telegram has been the subject of derision for facilitating voices of violence and extremism. Most recently, in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, Telegram has played an essential role in threatening as well as encouraging and coordinating racist and anti-Semitic violence," Ginsberg and his co-plaintiff, the Center for a Safe Web, said in the complaint. But "Apple has not taken any action against Telegram comparable to the action it has taken against Parler to compel Telegram to improve its content moderation policies," the plaintiffs said, alleging that Apple has violated the California unfair competition law.See attached complaint....
