Internet Association joins net-neutrality appeal

( March 22, 2018, 09:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Internet Association — the industry group that represents Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Uber Technologies, Airbnb and many of the other largest companies on the Internet — has filed a petition with the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to oppose the Federal Communications Commission's "Restore Internet Freedom Order." Without specific rules against blocking or slowing content, "Internet companies and consumers will have no effective legal recourse against broadband providers that distort competition and impede communication by preventing or discouraging consumers from reaching the online content of their choice," the Internet Association told the appeals court.Text of Internet Association press statement follows in full.
