Uber asks California state judge to bifurcate trade secret case

By Amy Miller ( October 20, 2016, 23:00 GMT | Insight) -- Attorneys for Uber Technologies want to break up a lawsuit filed in California state court against CEO Travis Kalanick and several early investors that claims they stole the idea for an app-based car-hailing service. Uber wants the court to first decide if California resident Kevin Halpern filed the lawsuit too late, and then, if necessary, to begin collecting evidence to determine whether Uber misappropriated trade secrets.
