EU Commission sends charge sheet to Sky UK, major US film studios

( July 23, 2015, 09:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six major Hollywood studios and Sky UK have today received formal antitrust charges from the European Commission, accusing them of carving up the pay-TV market through “absolute territorial restrictions.” The contract terms stop customers from other EU countries from accessing TV content in the UK via satellite or online, the regulator suspects. The charge sheet is addressed to Sky UK, NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Sony, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros. and Disney — which wasn’t part of the initial probe. The regulator said it is continuing to examine pay-TV services in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.Full statement follows:...
