Australian competition regulator recommends approval of revised Optus-NBN deal

( July 23, 2015, 07:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In a draft decision, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission approved the revised agreements between NBN Co. and Optus on the basis that the new arrangements will likely result in some benefits to the public. The arrangements involve the progressive migration of Optus’ hybrid-fiber coaxial, or HFC, subscribers to the new multi-technology National Broadband Network, or NBN, while parts of Optus’ HFC network are integrated into the NBN. The revised arrangements form part of a broader proposal for NBN to acquire Optus’ HFC network assets.  The ACCC is now seeking feedback on its draft determination before making a final decision.The regulator's full statement follows:...
