Danske Bank blocks crypto trading over money-laundering risks

( June 18, 2021, 16:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Danske Bank has prohibited the trading of cryptocurrencies on its platform over money-laundering risks, the lender said today. "Trade in cryptocurrencies is not always sufficiently transparent, which may make it difficult for us as a financial institution to meet our obligations to fight financial crime and money laundering," it said. The bank remains under investigation by Estonian, Danish, French, and US prosecutors over money-laundering failures that saw more than 200 billion euros in suspicious transactions flow through its Estonian unit between 2007 and 2015.Statement follows....
