France loses challenge over Single Resolution Board’s decision on MREL exemptions at EU court

( July 10, 2024, 11:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The French Republic today lost its challenge against the Single Resolution Board at the EU's General Court. France had been contesting the SRB appeal panel's approval of a decision not to grant an unnamed banking group an exemption from the minimum requirement for own funds and eligible liabilities, known as MREL. In today's judgment the court dismissed the action, rejecting France's arguments that the SRB had incorrectly interpreted and applied EU law, or exceeded the limits of its discretion.The ruling (in French) is attached.
