Market-trading laws have improved transparency, ESMA's Maijoor says ahead of review

( November 19, 2019, 13:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Transparency in exchange-traded funds and derivatives has increased thanks to EU obligations to trade on stock exchanges, said the head of the European Securities and Markets Authority ahead of a legislative review of the EU's market-instrument law known as Mifid. Steven Maijoor said controversial laws requiring the separation of market research from trading fees would be based on evidence, rather than on complaints from those who'd lost out. When it came to the cost of market data charged to investors, a recent consultation had revealed a consensus against regulatory price-setting or revenue caps in favor of toughening existing requirements to provide data on a reasonable commercial basis, Maijoor added.Speech attached. ...
