US House overrides Trump veto of US defense bill, defying president's demand for Section 230 repeal

( December 29, 2020, 03:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US House voted to reject President Donald Trump’s veto of a $741 billion defense authorization bill by a 322-87 margin. Trump said he wanted lawmakers to include language revoking Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996, which shields websites from lawsuits related to user-generated content. The bill now heads to the Senate, which must also pass the measure with a two-thirds majority. "The National Defense Authorization Act has been passed on a bipartisan and bicameral manner for sixty years, and it will become law, despite the President’s dangerous sabotage efforts," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement.Statement follows in full: ...
