EC Statement: Mergers - Commission clears acquisition of transport logistic services company ATIC by ArcelorMittal

( December 2, 2011, 10:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has cleared plans by steel and mining company ArcelorMittal Netherlands to acquire French coal and bulk logistics provider Atic Services, after concluding that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the market for iron ore and coal imports through seaport terminals. The investigation focused on the vertical integration of the companies’ activities, and revealed that ArcelorMittal would not be able to prevent its steel rivals from importing the resources to an extent that distorts competition.The full press release follows....
