EP Statement: Done deal on the EU patent?

( December 1, 2011, 17:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament and the Council presidency have agreed on plans to establish an EU-wide unitary patent. Under the deal, small firms will benefit from reduced costs and a better system for distribution of patent renewal fees. After a committee vote in December, the agreement will still be subject to confirmation by the European Parliament and the Council. Once approved, the regulation could enter into force in 2014.The full press release follows....
