Australia, UK trade deal boosts access to high-quality products, Morrison says

( June 16, 2021, 04:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A new free-trade agreement with the UK will bolster business opportunities for Australian exports and give consumers in both countries greater access to a range of high-quality products, Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Trade Minister Dan Tehan have said. In a joint statement following the agreement on a bilateral trade deal in principle, Morrison and Tehan said the UK will liberalize Australian imports with 99 percent of Australian goods, including Australian wine and short and medium grain milled rice, entering the UK duty free when the agreement enters into force. Beef and sheep meat tariffs are expected to be eliminated after 10 years with quotas applying for the transition period.
