Online platforms should be forced to check risky content, EU’s top court told

A lawyer acting for an unnamed woman whose data was posted unlawfully online said pre-publication screening “is the only way to avoid individual harm that cannot be fully repaired later.” The European Commission said that in this case the website in question should have done more, but cautioned against a general monitoring obligation.Online platforms that host risky content should be forced to check such content before it's posted on their websites, the EU’s top court was told today....
