Ban on Huawei, ZTE at US Federal Communications Commission backed by attorney general

( November 14, 2019, 23:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Attorney General William Barr sees Huawei and ZTE as a threat to the country's "collective security," he wrote in comments to the Federal Communications Commission with an agency vote scheduled next week on a proposed ban on the Chinese telecom companies. Barr said the FCC restrictions would join other federal efforts to crack down on the companies, including criminal cases at the Justice Department and the entity list at the Commerce Department. "While these cases do not discuss activities that would directly affect the security of our telecommunications networks, it is impossible to ignore them in evaluating whether those companies should be trusted to build or service networks with the support of federal funds," Barr said.The letter is attached....
