US Supreme Court sends lawsuits challenging state content moderation laws back to lower courts

( July 1, 2024, 14:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Supreme Court has vacated the judgments in a pair of challenges to state laws in Florida and Texas that attempted to regulate content moderation on social media platforms and remanded the cases to the lower courts to decide. The high court unanimously held that the lower courts failed to consider the laws fully before coming to judgments. "To make that judgment, a court must determine a law’s full set of applications, evaluate which are constitutional and which are not, and compare the one to the other. Neither court performed that necessary inquiry," Justice Elena Kagan wrote for the court.See document below....
