Electronic Frontier Foundation asks appeals court to hold companies accountable for technology that harms human rights

( December 21, 2020, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a brief urging the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to deny NSO Group Technologies any form of foreign sovereign immunity in a case brought by WhatsApp. It also said the appeals court should craft a rule that denies such immunity to all private companies, especially those that facilitate violations of human rights. “It is critical to hold all technology companies accountable when they provide their products and services to foreign governments that use them to commit human rights abuses.
