Taisei, Kajima executives arrested in Japanese maglev rail project collusion case

Takashi Okawa, a former management director at Taisei, and Ichiro Osawa, a manager at Kajima, were arrested on suspicion that they agreed in 2014-15 with executives at Obayashi Corp and Shimizu Corp to rig bids for the rail project in violation of the Antimonopoly Act. Following the prosecutors' joint investigation with the Japan Fair Trade Commission, Obayashi and Shimizu self-reported antitrust violations to the regulator and sought leniency, the paper said, while the Taisei and Kajima executives denied collusion....
